To effectively serve male youth clients in child welfare requires an awareness of issues disproportionally facing boys and young men, and as s subgroup, systems involved boys and young men of color. Once grounded in the obstacles facing this population, we can utilize practices demonstrated to optimally support male clients to succeed in spite of these obstacles. Join us at this interactive workshop where we will explore gender socialization, culturally responsive practices, and the adverse impacts of environmental stressors and systemic oppression. The trainer as well as participants will share techniques on how to draw out male clients emotions, ideas, voice, and motivation so we may facilitate goal attainment, achieve targeted outcomes, and together create more just and equitable communities.
