Welcome to the Foster Care Training website, featuring a monthly schedule of courses offered at no cost to care providers of foster and adoptive care children in Alameda, Contra Costa, Lake, Mendocino and Solano Counties. We offer a wide variety of courses designed to empower foster and adoptive care providers with tools to support the vital services they deliver.
IMPORTANT UPDATE ON COVID-19: In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the guidance of health experts to follow social distancing protocols, all classes are currently being offered via Distance Learning. We will continue to monitor the recommendations of local and state authorities and healthcare experts, and remain committed to ensuring the safety and health of training participants and instructors.
Please note that in order to register for these free trainings you must be staff, caregiver or volunteer working directly with foster, adoptive or probation involved children, youth and their families in one of our partner counties – Alameda, Contra Costa, Humboldt, Lake, Mendocino and Solano Counties.
The Course Catalog under Distance Learning provides course listings sorted by categories, including Arts & Activities, Behavioral Strategies, Child Development, Cultural Awareness, Family Issues, For Caregivers, Health & Safety, Trauma Impact, and Other. The Course Calendar under Distance Learning provides course listings sorted by month.
The Foster Care Training Program is made possible by a grant from Title IV-E of the Social Security Act, which provides funding for child welfare services. All courses are offered free of charge to foster and adoptive care providers by our Alameda County, Contra Costa County, Humboldt County, Lake County, Mendocino County and Solano County partner organizations that specialize in working with foster and adoptive care children and families.
We hope this program serves as a useful resource to all in our community who serve our foster and adoptive care children.
