This course is designed to provide strategies for staff working with traumatized youth and families. The aim of the course is to assist adults working with severe emotional disturbance have some clarity about the distinctions between personal trauma and others’ experiences of hardship. Through didactic lecture, group discussion, handouts, film/YouTube clips and self examination, participants will grasp how historic challenges can work to strengthen a mental health professional’s empathy, compassion and presence with system-involved youth and families.
