“”Training Summary: Part 2 of this training will focus on the utilization of suicide assessment information to create a meaningful, dynamic safety plan that includes warning signs, formal and informal supports/contacts, supportive environments, and coping strategies. Training attendees will discuss how to initiate emergency response services, if appropriate, at their specific agencies. The training will culminate with a discussion around the use of Motivational Interviewing to consolidate the client’s motivation to live. The training will include large group discussion, breakout groups, and the use of vignettes.
Class Objectives: (what knowledge, ideas or skills will participants explore, learn, practice, etc during the training)
1. Attendees will be able to establish a suicide safety plan.
2. Attendees will be able to verbalize the steps to initiate emergency contact.
3. Attendees will practice the use of Motivational Interviewing in at least one breakout group.
Participants will be able to:
1. Participants can utilize their new skills and knowledge by integrating the dynamic safety plans they developed during the training into their regular practice.
2. Participants can reinforce their learning by applying Motivational Interviewing techniques to strengthen their clients’ motivation to live.
