Rituals are woven into every culture as a practice of gathering together, creating connection, healing, and community. Rituals may seem “mystical” or nebulous, but rituals are simply bringing intention and mindfulness to a thoughtful structure. Bringing elements of ritual that incorporate mindfulness, nature connection, and creative expression can be a powerful tool you bring to both your individual interactions with system-involved youth and foster youth in small group settings, and in person as well as virtual settings. Especially in this context of the ongoing covid pandemic, ritual is a potent tool to increase self-awareness and social connection to others. In this workshop you will learn some trauma informed strategies for creating a safe and courageous container for ritual. You will also explore a number of trauma informed mindfulness exercises and activities to include elements of ritual with the system involved youth you support.
