Rituals are woven into every culture as a practice of gathering together, creating connection, healing, and community. Rituals may seem “mystical” or nebulous, but rituals are simply bringing intention and mindfulness to a thoughtful structure. Bringing elements of ritual that incorporate mindfulness, nature connection, and creative expression can be a powerful tool you bring to both your individual sessions with system-involved youth and foster youth in small group settings as well as virtual settings. Especially in this context of the Covid pandemic, distance learning, and limited contact with others, ritual is a potent tool to increase self-awareness and social connection to others.

In this workshop you will learn some trauma informed strategies for creating a safe and courageous container for ritual. You will also explore a number of trauma informed exercises and activities to include elements of ritual with the youth you support.
