Cultivating an awareness of self and others, acceptance, nonjudgement, body positivity and belonging are critical skills for the well-being of youth. A mindfulness-based approach around body awareness can support healthy choices and habits for young people. This foundation can be especially transformative by providing compassionate practices, awareness practices, and healthy honest conversation around these challenging topics. In this workshop you will learn how to support system involved and/or at-risk youth in processing oppressive attitudes around bodies from dominant culture, peers and family systems. We will explore the inner critic and learn practices to shift these negative thought patterns. You will be guided in practices that support cultivating resilience, developing self-awareness, and strong self-love. You will gain tools to deepen your allyship with system involved youth and families in a way that truly honors the intersectional layers of their identities. Participants will receive guidance and tangible ways to support facilitation of mindfulness practices to cultivate body positivity for system involved youth.
