De-Escalation is the use of techniques (including verbal and non-verbal communication skills) aimed at defusing anger and averting aggression. This training will cover many possible causes for a youth in care to escalate and the indicators of escalation. We will teach the many ways the caregiver can prepare to respond and three techniques to use to de-escalate. Lastly, we will provide resources for following up on possible related mental health concerns.
