In order to understand and assist clients in child welfare with trauma histories, providers need to understand how trauma impacts individuals, families and communities and learn skills for intervening with those impacted by trauma. This course will address the following topics through lecture, small group work, and discussion: ♣ What is trauma ♣ What is the difference between shock trauma and developmental trauma ♣ How trauma impacts the nervous system ♣ Adverse Childhood Experiences and their impact on individuals. ♣ How to address trauma in therapy. This course will address trauma informed care in child welfare and utilizing ACES to provide quality services to system-involved youth and children.
