The Screening, Stabilization, and Transition (STAT) Program provides essential care and supervision of children who come to the Alameda County Assessment Center after being removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect or are changing placements within the foster care system. This training provides and overview of issues involved in child abuse and neglect and how to support youth that are entering foster care. Providers will learn strategies for minimizing the traumatic experience for youth that have recently been removed from their homes and help them prepare for their next placement. Participants will explore the varying social and emotional needs of youth who come to the Assessment Center and how to best support their wellbeing.
