This training is designed as an opportunity for foster care providers, direct care staff, and clinical service providers to better understand the relationship between diagnosis and treatment which includes the use of psychotropic medications. For clients in foster care and other victims of trauma and neglect, it’s important for there to be an ongoing and consistent relationship between the client, the family/caregiver, and the psychiatrist. To strengthen the communication, we must first develop a shared understanding of medical diagnosis, identification of symptoms, and ultimately which form of treatment is best – always on a case-by-case basis.
