Foster Care Training

The challenges of dual diagnoses include knowledge of actual substance usage, correct mental health diagnoses, treatment options and how youth in care might be affected by all of the above. Families involved in various systems including foster care, child protection, juvenile and adult penal and emergency response are often dealing with two or more diagnoses in a caregiver or youth. Learning who they are, where they come from and why they do what they do can help the helpers deal with inherent challenges when working with these populations. In this course, we will delve into all of those issues through didactic lecture, interactive discussion, article/research sharing and case example(s).
