Training Summary: This course is designed to provide staff with behavior management strategies for working with traumatized youth and families. The aim of the course is to assist adults working with system-involved youth and families who are dealing with addiction related to one or more family members. Participants will look at variety of addictions that can be found among system-involved youth and families, along with statistics. Through didactic lecture, large group discussion and case examples, students will understand the trans-generational aspects of addiction. Treatment options will be discussed through a systems perspective. Participants will be able to: -Learn current statistics for drug and alcohol usage of parents and youth in the U.S -Identify generational impact of parental usage -Describe treatment options and efficacy from research, personal/professional experience and collegial description
