This lively event will allow participants to learn the origins, customs and practices of Kwanzaa and how it uplifts and strengthens community and Black/African American youth and families. This event will be hosted by Melyssa Barrett, who speaks at churches and community events about the power of the Kwanzaa principles. She will share the history of Kwanzaa, explain the principles, demonstrate some customs, and discuss/demonstrate rituals that are used to honor ancestors. There will also be principles shared outside of this training, via email, for participants wishing to learn more.
