When providers establish positive relationships with youth, and value their diverse cultures and languages, youth feel safe and secure. This process affects how youth experience the world, express themselves, manage their emotions, and establish positive relationships with others. As adults in positions to support foster youth, it is important to understand the different ways youth may engage or express themselves with providers. This training will review the different ways to engage foster youth to develop a deeper understanding of their inner worlds including strategies like play.
