One of the ways in which trauma can impact someone is with their memory. For example, some trauma survivors may have difficulty recalling the specifics of what happened to them. When social service providers don’t understand how trauma impacts memory system-involved youth can be judged for not being able to recall what happened. This training will provide an overview of the different types of memory as well as how trauma impacts memory. Knowing this information allows social service providers to educate their clients, families and other service providers about the impact of trauma to ensure system-involved youth are receiving trauma-informed care.
