Foster Care Training

This interactive workshop will train professional staff working with foster youth (bilingual and monolingual) to address the issue of child abuse and neglect manifesting within the Latinx community. The training will discuss the physical and behavioral signs and symptoms of child abuse, the characteristics of perpetrators, the signs for detecting child abuse, and the needs of traumatized children and preventive best practices. This material will be presented within the cultural context of families who have immigrated from other countries to the U.S. and are adapting to a new language, rules, school environment, and new societal values.
