This course explores legal and ethical issues for licensed professionals and associates working in youth and family services and child welfare. Topics include an overview as well as updates to California laws and ethics in accordance with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. Laws and ethics specific to youth and family services will be reviewed including consent, confidentiality and mandated reporting. The National Association of Social Work, and California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists Code of Ethics will be reviewed with attention to relevance in youth, family services and child welfare.
