Foster Care Training

This training will conduct a critical discussion of how trauma is conceptualized and screened in youth with attention to how trauma might present itself among youth. Consideration will be given to how trauma might be diagnosed in youth as opposed to other similar mental health issues and the steps to ethical documentation and determination of mental illness. We will additionally consider how systems can begin to screen and assess for trauma among their workforce, and will take up the trauma informed care principle of collaboration and empowerment as key tools when working with system involved youth.
