The following course will explore clinical considerations when working with Black/African American/Black Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC) individuals. The course will cover key information that clinicians should be mindful of when providing therapy and mental health services to this community. Course content will include 1) how clinicians can become aware of personal biases and errors in cross-cultural delivery, 2) research based-approaches when working with this population, 3) common presenting concerns and ways that race, racism, and racial trauma impacts mental health, and 4) the presenter’s experiences with working with BIPOC communities in residential, out-patient, and school-based settings.
