There is a growing demand for workforce education and supports to better understand, respond to, and heal the impact of trauma on our communities and workforce. The Trauma Informed Systems 101 is a basic training to understand how trauma and stress impacts developing bodies and brains, communities, organizations and systems. The main topics that will be covered include: Neurobiology of trauma and the effect on our bodies, Strategies for self-regulation and co-regulation, Historical trauma and cultural humility and responsiveness, Caregivers trauma informed communication strategies.

This 2-hour training was developed for staff working in impacted systems of care, with the goal of moving those systems from being trauma-inducing to become healing organizations. The training focuses on our six trauma-informed principles: Understanding Trauma and Stress, Cultural Humility and Equity, Safety and Stability, Compassion and Dependability, Collaboration and Empowerment, Resilience and recovery. By creating a shared understanding and language to address stress and trauma, organizations are then better able to serve consumers and support the workforce and begin to move away from blame towards compassion.
