Sibling relationships are among the most significant and lasting bonds in a child’s life, providing identity, stability, and emotional support. For children and youth in foster care, maintaining sibling connections can serve as a protective factor against trauma, loss, and instability. This interactive training will examine the developmental, emotional, and cultural importance of sibling bonds, the systemic and legal barriers that often disrupt them, and strategies to preserve and strengthen these relationships. Through case examples, research insights, and applied practice tools, participants will gain skills to better support sibling connections and advocate for policies that prioritize family continuity.
