Lincoln Families has partnered with the African American Wellness Project (AAWP) to take a deeper look into the emotional wellness of black males. This activity will explore the African American Community’s crisis around black masculinity. Historically, black males at an early age live under the expectation of emotional stoicism in the world and what should be a “safe space,” and the weight of such pressure has a devastating impact on their emotional wellness. Participants will screen “Black Men Don’t Cry,” which is part of a four (4) episode docuseries, “Profiled, The Black Man,” which examines the origins of the widespread stereotypes that have permeated society and impacted the lives of black males in America for centuries. Following the screening, participants will engage in robust conversation with an esteemed group of panelists from the Bay Area with the hopes to destigmatize the emotional “un-wellness” and begin to heal collectively. Please register at:
