By attending this course, attendees will have a general understanding of implicit bias in the workplace. Attendees will review the definition of implicit bias and reflect on how it impacts the clinical and manager roles within the child welfare system. The course will identify structures and systems impacted by racism as well as environmental impacts system involved youth and families. Attendees will practice strategies to mitigate implicit bias in clinical practice and management. Attendees will increase self-awareness and identify how biases affects actions. The workshop will illustrate how first impression and unknown faces cause implicit bias to leak into everyday interactions. This course will list 7 strategies to interrupt implicit bias during clinical supervision or management roles; identify 6 ways to modify organizational accountability to support better practice; and review the impact of implicit bias and stereotype threat. The material will be delivered by PowerPoint presentation, short video clips, group discussion, breakout (small group) discussions and participant workbook (handout).
