In this training, participants will learn the context in which ACT emerged (emerged from Radical Behaviorism and Relational Frame Theory, with Functional Contextualism as the other underlying philosophy) and how to incorporate the 6 processes of psychological flexibility (Acceptance, cognitive defusion, self-as-context, contact with the present moment, committed action and values) and inflexibility (dominance of conceptualized past and future, experiential avoidance, cognitive fusion, attachment to conceptualized self, unworkable action and lack of values clarity) in how they understand clients and conceptualize case presentations.
