Those who support stressed and traumatized populations, particularly those with limited internal and external resources such as system involved youth and their families, often experience burn-out and vicarious traumatization. In order to sustain themselves and provide excellent support to system involved youth in need, providers need to understand signs of burnout and vicarious traumatization (VT) and how to prevent and address burnout and VT. In this class participants will learn about burnout and VT, the differences between the two, strategies for preventing and addressing them including how to complete the stress cycle and specific regulating exercises. They will have the opportunity to make a plan to sustaining themselves while serving system involved youth and their families.
