Training Summary: Using Tema Okun and Kenneth Jones’ White Supremacy Culture Tenets and Antidotes along with several other tools, we will reflect, share, and find pathways to learning (and unlearning) what building an Anti-Oppression Practice can look like as practitioners and caregivers. An exploration of language, meaning, and cultural relevance; this workshop takes both a personal and methodological approach as participants engage in full group and small group dialogue, personal sharing, and silent journaling.
Class Objectives: (what knowledge, ideas or skills will participants explore, learn, practice, etc during the training)
1. Develop awareness of language and ideology pertaining to White Supremacy Culture, Racial Identity Development, and the Actor to Co-Conspirator journey
2. Explore and discuss the personal and interpersonal agency in divesting from White Supremacy Culture
3. Share personal stories and examples from the field to affirm understanding and identify with concepts
Participants will be able to:
1. Use resources shared to inform daily shifts in habits of mind and behavior
2. Journal and build accountability structures to practice noticing and interrupting tenets of White Supremacy Culture in personal, interpersonal, systemic, and cultural ways
