This session is intended for school based practitioners who are interested in learning more about abolition and teaching pedagogy. Participants will explore important ideas highlighted in We Want to Do More Than Survive: Abolitionist Teaching and the Pursuit of Educational Freedom by Dr. Bettina Love. Participants will engage in dialogue that critically analyzes the educational survival complex. Attendees will explore strategies for creating a homeplace for young people to promote imagination, joy, agency, belonging, and healing, as well reflect on their personal practice.
