System involved youth have a wide range of experiences when it comes to social media. For some it is a tool that bridges connection to youth around the world, helps them explore their interests, and creates a sense of belonging. For others, social media is a site of cyber bullying, exclusion, and creates feelings of anxiety and stress. Especially in relationship to body image and self worth, social media can evoke stressors and increased self judgement. Social media is a powerful tool and this workshop explores strategies and
mindfulness exercises for system involved youth to find a healthy and balanced
relationship with social media to foster an empowered self body image.
