Training Summary: SOGIE is something everyone has! SOGIE is one’s sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression. Part Two of this two-part series will cover risk and protective factors shaping outcomes for SOGIE-diverse youth. This training will focus on strategies therapists, advocates and other youth providers can employ to best support youth around SOGIE identity development, caregiver, family and peer acceptance and safety issues. The training will provide an opportunity for participants to ask questions and begin thinking about how they could apply supportive practices. Special attention will be paid to working with children ages 10 and older and their families. The learning will take place in workshop format with the use of presentation, interactive dialogue and exploration. Participants will be able to: -Explain how at least one protective factor can lead to better outcomes for LGBTQ+ youth. -Describe two strategies that they can implement to support youth self-acceptance and safety concerns. -Name two resources that you can offer SOGIE-diverse youth in need of support.
