The Treatment Foster Care Training Series will help participants understand what fostering and adopting is all about. This process furnishes you with information about the youths who come into the foster care system. The classes also boost your knowledge and confidence to meet the challenge of taking youth into your home and to be sure you are ready to follow through on the commitment.

Discussion series include: the role of Community Care Licensing (CCL), discussion over regulations in addition to Prudent Parenting, reporting requirements, youth in care that identify as LGBTQ, and youth that have been commercially sexually exploited. The “3-5-7 Model of Grief and Loss” by Darla Henry, as well as Trauma Competent Caregiving, will be overviewed in this series. This training will also cover the effects of abuse on youth, supporting relationships with youth and family, and the topic of permanency and what that means for youth in care will be discussed.
