This workshop presents a relationship-based approach to working with youth and their caregivers, both in and out of the home, using the science of neurobiology, attachment, emotion regulation, and discipline to create healing connections. Additionally we introduce the 7 essential attachment needs of children, and how meeting them can strengthen all interactions. We focus on specific support strategies that are consistent with this science and are effective for addressing the social-emotional and behavioral issues that are common after trauma. These strategies are useful for creating healing at relational, emotional and behavioral levels. The workshop combines lecture, experiential activities and brief discussion.
