At-risk and system involved youth often struggle to engage in pretend play, which inhibits their ability to utilize play to work through past and current trauma. This training will examine the use of playfulness in helping youth access their own ability to play. Specific strategies for engaging youth will be discussed and participants will participate in experiential exercises to practice these approaches. Participants will explore their own inhibitions around play and use this exploration to better understand the experience of the youth we serve.
