Neighborhood and milieu safety are essential to protecting the health and well-being of both our staff and the youth we serve. While FPFY has strong safety guidelines and response protocols in place, it’s important to remember that staff often enter environments where they have limited control. Even if a unit has been vetted or the neighborhood appears calm, risks can still arise unexpectedly, from a behavioral escalation inside the home to an environmental hazard or danger outside. Because of this, as staff we must proactively engage in strategies that support ongoing awareness and preparedness. This includes understanding environmental cues, following FPFY protocols, and consistently using preventive techniques before, during, and after visits.
