The Ethics Codes, case law, and regulations for professional mental health and addiction services evolve routinely, but with the busy schedules most providers have, it can be difficult to keep up with these changes. The purpose of this course is to meet and exceed the requirements of regulatory organizations, assist mental health professionals in maintaining competence in this vital area, and better manage potential risks in practice. This review of key ethical and legal concepts will focus on improving ethical problem solving, conjoint treatments and work with minors, boundaries and privacy.

Training will focus on the federal and state laws that govern the disclosure of protected health information of minors that come into and or are in the Child Welfare System so that providers may effectively apply these regulations to how patient information is shared and to the practice of medicine and treatment of minors.
