Foster Care Training

This 3-hour training provides participants with a broad understanding of the foundational concepts of Motivational Interviewing. Participants will identify ways in which they utilize the fixing reflex, the positive intention behind doing so, and ways to mitigate this tendency. The training will also include a review of the Spirit of Motivational Interviewing and a discussion around how to continue to embody these values in challenging service provision experiences. Attendees will learn how to assess a client’s communication around change and use Open-Ended Questions, Affirmations, Reflections, and Summaries (O.A.R.S) evoke or enhance change talk. The training will culminate with the creation of sustainable change plans.
