Child Centered Play is developmentally appropriate counseling for children in which play is the language and toys are the words. This training will introduce the philosophy of child centered play including tenets for relating to children, necessary conditions for therapeutic growth, developing the therapeutic relationship, and understanding the service providers role in the process. Key concepts including selecting toys and culturally sensitive materials for the play room, the parent/caregiver’s role in the process, facilitative responses, and therapeutic limit setting will be explored. CCPT and neuroscience will also be addressed.
