Through understanding the history of A Better Way, this course will give an over view of child welfare social service needs, and how various programs interact to support court dependent families. We will review a description of the organization’s development and trajectory throughout the years, as well as the services it has provided to system-involved families and youth since its inception. Participants will understand the mission and values of the organization and how these have developed into services provided throughout the Bay Area to promote better outcomes for children and families in child welfare. Participants will learn how to navigate through the various services provided by the organization through a continuum of care framework (preventative, during, and after care) in order to understand their role in providing supportive services to their clients.
