Youth with disabilities and youth of color face significant challenges within the child welfare system. These challenges are magnified at the intersection of ableism and racism, creating compounded barriers to equitable treatment and support. This workshop explores these intersections, aiming to provide participants with a deeper understanding of how disability justice and anti-racist practices can be integrated to better serve and empower marginalized youth. In this interactive session, participants will examine the systemic issues that contribute to the marginalization of disabled youth of color and learn strategies to advocate for more inclusive and equitable practices. By engaging in reflective discussions, case studies, and practical exercises, attendees will gain insights into how to challenge oppressive structures and promote a supportive environment for all youth in care.
