One of the most significant challenges for those supporting system involved youth (SIY) is to effectively engage them to break free of negative self-story creation & continuous survival behaviors that limit their ability to be successful in relationships, academics & career related activities. It is important for SIY to be able to foster connections that strengthen their system navigation effectiveness, while building networks of support that lead to personal empowerment & successful outcomes. In this training, we will explore how to enhance our capacity to support SIY by evaluating how to increase trust & connection in order to effectively support SIY to identify secure attachment styles in themselves & others that promotes meaningful trauma healing. We will also examine coaching points that can not only prepare us to foster young people’s sustainable positive personal values & beliefs, but also can strengthen their resilience & ability to heal from traumatic events. Practicing & sharing the methods outlined by this workshop will allow us to improve the practice of how we empower SIY & their families.
