Foster Care Training

Training Summary: This course is designed to provide staff behavior management strategies for working with traumatized youth and families. The aim of the course is to assist adults with an understanding of how severely emotionally disturbed youth can trigger cognitive, emotional and behavioral responses relating to the adult’s history, current stressors and/or the presenting trauma of the youth.  Participants will then formulate effective tools and techniques for self-care. Participants will be able to: -Define external stressors, transference/counter-transference and secondary trauma -Identify signs and symptoms of triggers brought on by interaction with youth and families -Formulate self care skills that will work specifically for each potential obstacle to best practice TO REGISTER
