System-involved youth may turn to alcohol as a means of coping with trauma, an unstable home environment, bullying at school, etc. It’s important social service providers, foster parents and natural supports to talk with system-involved youth and young adults about their alcohol consumption and it’s impact of the relationships, school performance and work. It’s also important to talk with system-involved youth and young adults about strategies to consume alcohol responsibly.
