At Aldea, one way the Social Workers and Behavioral Support Counselors assess each child and youth coming into care is with a tool calls the CANS, or Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths. This tool helps direct them to what goals to work on with the child or youth. You will learn in this training what SMART goals are and how the CANS assessment tool integrates the progress that happens every day with the youth in care’s goals and objectives.
