Attendees are encouraged to attend all sessions, but it is not required. Each session is considered a stand-alone session. Kline shows how race, class, economic, and immigration status have an impact on the child welfare system. Orphan Train will look at those aspects through the eyes of a 17-year-old foster youth, and a 91- year-old who was on an orphan train. With a narrative that focuses on how their stories relate to the children/youth that join their families. Training will include selected reading from the book titled Orphan Train, by Christina Baker Kline. Facilitated by Carole Loudd, MA, you will be led in a group discussion at each session relating the reading to your experience fostering.
