“Training Summary: System-involved families and communities and in particular, communities of color, have experienced tremendous loss and grief through the covid-19 pandemic and increase of violence to the community; system-involved families continue to be impacted by social and political policies that impact their well being. Participants will explore how to engage young children and caregivers around topics that can impact the parent child relationship. Participants will use self-reflective tools to build their confidence in addressing these issues with families. Participants will explore culturally protective factors that can support families’ well-being. Through the use of PowerPoint presentation, interactive exercises, media, and vignettes, this presentation will provide participants with the tools to discuss difficult topics with system-involved families with young children. Participants will be able to: -Participants will demonstrate knowledge of how development and important relationships for young children can be impacted during stress. -Participants will practice how to select interventions to engage families in difficult topics. -Participants will consider culturally protective factors that support young children and their families and the integration of these factors for families’ well being.
