Choosing a career in supporting system-involved youth is a challenging and important pursuit. To address the challenging truths of system-involved youth’s past without giving in to compassion fatigue, conscious self-wellness practices and energy management are required. We can successfully incorporate personal ideals into routines that guide and focus our life through spiritual practice. In this class, we will examine a variety of ways that philosophy, nature, science, culture, food, community, and occasionally even religion contribute to meaning and satisfaction in our lives. We will go over methods to structure our careers in a way that is rewarding and successful while incorporating our personal and professional beliefs into a routine that we feel capable of maintaining for decades to come.
