“”To heal is to touch with love that which we previously touched with fear”” – Stephen Levine
Codependency and interrupted attachment bonds impact our youths’ capacity for relational repair. This course will offer providers topics and themes for exploration with youth in care who experience protective responses in ways that keep them from building secure bonds. Participants will spend time self-reflecting, resource sharing, and honing skills to support foster and systems-impacted youth whose childhood experiences have shaped their emotional bonds and attachment styles. We will explore the brain and body’s response to perceived relational threats to build a foundation of understanding for effective healing and intervention.
By tapping into relational connection techniques, decolonial therapeutic interventions, somatic practices, and trauma-informed care approaches, participants will experience both healing dialogue and personal care strategies that can shape more effective relationships between youth and providers.
