System involved youth have significant barriers to healthy eating. Not only do they bear the burden of their family experience and history, but they also have cultural, logistical, access and medical barriers to overcome. In this interactive training, participants will examine, discuss, and challenge issues related to eating disorders and the multiple ways that healthy eating is made difficult for these youth. Learn techniques to talk with them about food challenges, as well as tools that will help to support them as they are continually challenged with how to choose healthy options for eating. Consider strategies to use while helping them work through their attitudes and behaviors. Discover tools to use and teach so they can better interact and advocate for themselves. Be a part of helping them avoid negative outcomes as they deal with barriers that are in the way of healthy eating and living.
