Service providers working with system involved children, youth, and families are prone to vicarious trauma. While serving these court dependent families, professionals and caregivers may experience toxic stress and the COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way you work in a major way. Fear and anxiety about this new disease and other strong emotions can be overwhelming and workplace stress can lead to burnout. How you cope with these emotions and stress can affect the well-being of the people you care about, the clients you serve, your family, your workplace, and community. During this pandemic, it is critical that you recognize what stress looks like, how it affects your body, take steps to build your resilience and create a self-care resume, and know where to go if you need help in order to continue to take care of yourself and provide quality services to vulnerable communities.
