Trauma and attachment have been major focuses in our field of child, adolescent, and family play in recent years. However, two areas often overlooked or minimized are the sociocultural view of how historical oppression and cultural resilience have impacted the healing process with children, adolescents, and families. Utilizing the resiliency-focused principles of Milton H. Erickson, Transcultural teachings, and elements of the StoryPlay® model, this play webinar will provide participants with a socio-cultural lens through which to expand their ability to develop and utilize culturally respectful metaphors and creativity into their play practice. Participants will be able to explore their own beliefs, spirituality, cultures of origin, stories, and traditions, and how they impact their work as therapists.
